The Department of Plant Pathology is one of only 12 remaining departments in the United Stated dedicated solely to the discipline of plant pathology. We have more than 80 people affiliated with our department, as of our 2020 census. The department has responsibility for teaching, research, and extension.
Our department consists of: 16 state-supported faculty (including 1 extension educator and 2 professors of practice); 5 adjunct faculty; 2 research professors; 2 active emeriti; 6 courtesy faculty; 18 technical staff; 4 support staff; 6 postdoctoral fellows; 2 visiting scientists; 24 graduate students; and a number of student hourly workers. Plant pathology personnel are concentrated in Lincoln, but also are located in Scottsbluff (Panhandle Research and Extension Center).
In addition to the office staff, the department has administrative support from the HAPPI Business Center which performs specialized business services, including accounting for revolving, grant, and state funds; purchasing cards; deposits; travel; University Foundation information; regular, graduate assistant, and temporary appointments; payroll; time sheets; and leave requests.
