James Steadman
Professor Emeritus
- PH.D., University of Wisconsin, 1970
Dr. Steadman's research area is the epidemiology and control of diseases, especially of common beans and soybeans. Three fungal diseases, white mold of beans and soybeans, common rust of dry bean and web blight/root rot of dry bean, offer challenges in the search for genetic resistance. Pathogenic variation studies and selection of resistance to rust, root rot, web blight and white mold are a major part of an international project. Selection and management of disease resistance and integrated disease management in temperate, semi-arid and tropical locations is the overall program emphasis.
