Since June 1, 2005, I have been an extension plant pathologist at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with extension and research responsibilities on diseases of small grains, forages, and ornamental plants. Before joining the Department of Plant Pathology at UNL, I was an extension specialist at the University of California-Riverside (2002-2005) with responsibilities on diseases of floriculture and nursery crops. I obtained M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in plant pathology from Iowa State University in 1994 and 1997, respectively. I also hold a B.S. degree in biology (1991) from Davidson College, NC, and a Diploma in Science Education (1985) from Kenya Science Teachers College (now Kenya Science Campus, University of Nairobi). My research is in the areas of epidemiology, disease management, and screening cultivars for resistance to diseases and involves field, greenhouse, and laboratory work. Currently I do research on diseases of wheat, and my extension activities include development and delivery of clientele-targeted educational programs and annual wheat disease surveys.
