Dr. Tatineni works on wheat viruses in the areas of molecular characterization of viruses to develop methods for rapid and sensitive detection of wheat viruses; examine how viruses can cause diseases by studying the virus-host interactions, virus-vector interactions, replication of RNA viruses, gene expression and regulation of viral genes using molecular and reverse genetics approaches; and transfer this knowledge to control/minimize losses induced by viral diseases in wheat and other cereal crops using the conventional and non-conventional approaches.
